Wally an orphaned baby aligator was found in a pond in Disney World. Joie Henney adopted him. Wally lives with his human companion, enjoys raiding the fridge and watching television. Wally has a bed and no cage. Joie is building a habitat for abandoned alligators to call home.

2022; Mark Cardenaz took in an injured humming bird, nursing “Buzz” with Pedialyte and sugar for 6 weeks. After releasing Buzz back into the wild, the story did not end there. Every year the bird flies from South America back to Cardenaz’s home in Georgia and lands in his hand.
2022; Chicago, Indian River Marsh was once a dumping ground for waste matter separated during metal refining; toxic metals; lead, manganese, cyanide, arsenic. In 10 years 480 tons were removed, creating a 154 acre wetland of native plants and animals that are starting to thrive.
Jadav Payeng turned a barren, devastated 1,360 acres into a forest by planting a single tree each day for 40 years. His man made forest is home to hundreds of elephants, rhinos, boars, reptiles and birds. Jadav will plant until his "last breath".

2016, Joao Pereira De Souza rescued a South American Magellanic Penguin covered in oil, near death, on a Brazil beach. Every year, after an 8000 km migration, the bird would seek out and meet with Joao on the same beach. The visits ended in 2020. Joao still waits for his friend.

In the Syrian war Ambulance driver Mohammad Alaa Aljaleel stayed to tend the wounded and his neigbours cats. Despite his own grief and loss the love of this man caused more cats to come to him. Soon others joined his cause making a sanctuary and a clinic to care for the cats.

1974; Candelaria Villanueva was lost in the ocean after a shipwreck. A giant sea turtle lifted her on to their shell, rescued her. A smaller turtle helped by biting Villaneuva whenever she drifted into sleep. The giant turtle circled her rescue ship twice before finally diving.
In 2004 and 2007 pods of dolphins circled imperiled surfers for over thirty minutes in order to ward off aggressive great white sharks by slapping their tails in the water to frighten them away. Sharks are afraid of dolphins who use their snouts as biological battering rams.
2022; An entire herd of elephants currently living in a British zoo will be released into the wild. 13 elephants (including 3 calves) live at Howletts Wild Animal Park in Kent, southern England, and will be flown to be "rewilded" in Kenya. This venture is an historical first.
2012; A lady in Oxford, Ohio was dragged behind a building by a man who tried to choke her with her purse straps. She feared for her life in the struggle. The man's plans ended when a deer galloped out from underneath a nearby bush, charging, with antlers down, scaring him away.
In the UK from the 1st of October 2022, 400 years after beavers were hunted to extinction and after reclaiming a foothold in their native land in recent years. It's now illegal to deliberately capture, injure, kill or otherwise disturb the lives of these industrious animals.
